"A Better World is Happening"

On May 28, In The Light hosted a benefit event which raised $1,625.00 for the Metro Detroit charitable organization, "Kids4AfghanKids".

Outstanding presentations were made by all of the speakers, including a special appearance by Dr. A. T. Ariyaratne, the Founder/President of the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement in Sri Lanka, who gave a most inspiring talk. Sarvodaya Shramadana is the largest spiritually-based people's development movement in the world.

Imam Achmat Salie of the Islamic Association of Greater Detroit; Prasanna Vengadam, Project Manager of "Gandhi and Khan: Power of Nonviolence"; and Khris Nedam of Kids4AfghanKids all gave excellent presentations.

Nationally recognized performer Judy Piazza sang and played a variety of instruments to enrapture the audience. The evening was opened up by Iam Post and Amy Kucera, of The Pryde, with beautiful songs of peace.

One hundred percent of the donations made by attendees were given to Kids4AfghanKids due to the generosity of all volunteers and our sponsors, Birmingham Unitarian Church and Sarvodaya USA.
