Welcome We hope that our website - dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, the most noted peacemaker and Badshah Khan, the most overlooked Islamic nonviolence activist - will serve as a conduit to heighten our commitment for a violence-free peaceful world. In The Light is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering awareness and understanding of true spirituality to promote harmony amongst diverse people and communities. The inspiring feats of Gandhi and Khan demonstrate that contrary to the acts of religious fanaticism and terrorism strong moral and spiritual ideals are still the answer to most of our problems today. But offering praise and harping on their accomplishments serve a limited purpose. We need to develop a deeper understanding of their self-reform and personal transformation process that served as a platform for the Ahimsa and Satyagraha movements that brought down the British Empire in colonial India. A closer scrutiny of Gandhi and Khan's staggering achievements reveal that universal and humanistic values served as the fountainhead of energies to clinch an unprecedented socio-political and moral victory in the history of mankind. The past and present national and international scenarios are depressingly replete with devastation, destruction, and hatred. Yet, the nonviolence movement has steadily gained momentum over the years. It is imperative to keep Gandhi and Khan's legacies alive to transform the mindset and gain acceptance of skeptics and the high-powered to establish a non-violent culture in the new millennium. The more we know and understand the legendary lives, beliefs, and principles of Gandhi and Khan, the better we are equipped to bring about a change in our collective consciousness in favor of peaceful living and a violence-free world.
